Brook Willow Alpacas

Meet Sharon and George Thornton

It all began with a visit to a local agricultural show. George asked the question what would you like for your 50th birthday.

"Well I've always loved alpacas".

Our journey began we enrolled on a course to teach us the basics. Fallowfield alpacas ran by Melanie and Mike Douglas had the perfect course tailored to all levels of ability. This was a fun day with hands on training and covered all the basics of alpaca care.

"I was hooked"

Our decision was made, we loved these gentle, intelligent and inquisitive creatures. They are truly a pleasure to be around.

We purchased three females with sound genetics from Fallowfield, two of our girls pregnant to Houghton King their award winning stud male.

The hard work began we built our own field shelters and fenced the paddock. The whole family helped and we took advice from Mike Douglas about lay outs this made handling and husbandry much easier.

The girls arrived with much excitement and soon settled in, the family love them and I adore them.  Couldn't imagine a day without them.

Our first cria arrived.

These gorgeous fluffy long legged cuties, we had a lovely summer watching the young cria play and pronk in the sunshine, one of life's great pleasures.

My next birthday saw the arrival Gracia and her cria Hugo again purchased from Fallowfield.

Life is great with my little herd and I have made some good friends along the way, yes i even enjoy  the poo picking. My advice don't hesitate get yourself on a course and buy some alpacas today.
